Never made apple sauce? Either have I. I was actually pretty nervous. But it was super easy. And it's way better than store bought applesauce.
Get yourself 2 3lb bags of apples. (They are around $3.00 a bag) Make sure you get sweet apples, like Fany Nancy's, Gala, Fuji, etc.
In a large pot, put one inch of water.
Wash and Peel your apples.
Let cook on high heat for about 15 minutes or so. Poke apples with a fork and if they are mushy, they are done. It goes faster than you think. Take your beater and whip those apples up.
Add cinnamon to taste.
Super easy, and super delicious. Make a batch of this and then stay tuned to learn how to turn it into apple butter. A healthy alternative to jam or butter for your bread!

I saw this yesterday, but then I heard a "crash" and had to run...then came the dulcet tones of my children "nothing broke". Ah, I love my life! Anyway, I am so excited try this...I've seen some applesauce recipes that were too complicated for my slightly above novice talents...this one I can do!
We actually freeze at least 2 bushels of applesauce every year since I was a kid. We only remove the stems and cut the apples, heat them, then run the apples through a tomato press that removes the bad stuff. And we actually use Lodi apples which are a tart apple then add sugar to taste. Its the only applesauce my family will eat.
Another super easy way to do this is in the crockpot. It makes the house smell delicious--Also if you have a food mill, you don't even need to peal the apples before you cook them. You can just run them through the food mill. Beware though, apples cook DOWN a lot. Also, instead of water, I add apple juice and brown sugar instead of white due to family preferences.
