Thank you so much for all those who donated and bid on items for Claire and Benson. With multiple transplants needed in one family the financial need is great. That being said, it's also a huge struggle in the economy right now! So I am so thankful for those of you who helped out and for the contribution we are able to give Benson and Claire! It's smaller than I hoped but I also know that ANYTHING helps.
I will email the women that donated items with the winners once they have sent me their donations! Now for the winners...
First things first. Please send your winning bid to shannon_staker (@) hotmail (dot) com through paypal using the donations option. Then I will total it all and send it on over to Natalie! After you have completed that please email me with your name and address and the item you have won so I can contact the items holder and have them send it on over to you!!!

This is an addition to this tutorial. So complete it first and then continue.
Thanks for the great idea from one of you readers!!! Take the back of the picture frame and make a hole in each corner. I did this by hitting a nail through.
Then add drawer pulls. I got these from target for 94 cents each. I did have to use smaller screws than the long ones they came with.
Put the back back into the picture frame.
And there you have it. A picture Frame Cosmetics Tray with Legs.
Do you have a bunch of old crayons that you aren't sure what to do with? Don't throw them away the are not biodigrable and sit around forever...Instead Make new crayons!!!
Take all the wrappers off. I cut them with an exacto knife like this and they fall right off...
Just like this...It doesn't matter if you score the crayon...They are all going to melt...
Then break them into pieces.
Lay them on a sprayed with vege oil pan. (Don't use a nice pan...crayons can stain pan)
Put them in the oven at 350 degrees.
Let them melt for 10-15 minutes. Then take them out. Be careful you don't spill the crayons.
If you have chunks you can fish them out. The cheap brands sometimes won't melt...Once they have cooled aobut 5 minutes. Press a cookie cutter into it. The crayon shouldn't stick to the sides. If it sticks to the sides of the cookie cutter wait a little while longer. But don't wait too long or the crayons will be too hard.
Then turn the pan over and softly hit the bottom. Your new crayons will fall out!

For all of you fellow Arizonans!!! I am having my first ever (down her in the land of the sun) Craft night. I used to do this monthly when I lived in Utah and I have been missing it...so the time has come to start it up again and I am so excited I can't even tell you.
So here is the deal: It will be every last Friday. Every month. Got that. Always at 8pm. Here's more of the deal. NO KIDS. NO MEN. NO DRAMA. Leave them at the door, well don't really leave your kids at my door, I would have to let them in:) and well then you won't get any crafting done!!!
Bring your favorite snack and your goodies. It will differ every month. I will let you know. Because this is the first one Bring a craft you want to finish and all the supplies you'll need. If you don't have one just come! I will pass out a survey that has your interests and any crafts you would like to do. That way next month I can chose one craft that we will all be working on. And then I will get you a list of supplies to bring. (ie: scissors, ribbon...) NONE of the crafts we make will be expensive. So don't come because you are afraid of cost. Seriously I am talking about dollars and pennies here. And most of the supplies you will already have at home! So yeah for that!!!
I am really excited. And I would LOVE for anyone to come. I don't want to leave anyone out. So if you didn't get invited from me but from someone who heard from someone...consider it a personal invite from me. I WANT you here. The more women the more fun!!! So get your craft on. If you aren't crafty just come, you will be by the time we are done with you!
I don't want to post my address for the world so if you are coming...email me at shannon_staker (@) hotmail.com and I will send it your way!!!
I apologize for those of you who read me with a blog reader! I have been making a blog book from my 2008 posts. I have had to rearrange and re post items. I am almost done and they won't show up anymore. I will leave all of the tutorials that I have posted up, but if it's just an informational post I will be deleting it! Thanks, gotta make room for more pictures to post!
Thanks for waiting for this tutorial. My husband reset our computer and all of my adobe programs stopped working. I freaked...called adobe had to reactivate them all and now...I can move forward... So here you have it. This tutorial will be posted in three parts. Part one being how to screen print with contact paper and how to construct the window shade. Part two being how to screen print with freezer paper. And Part Three being how to apply suction cups if preferred over vinyl straps closed into window. Let's start with part one.
Print off the image you would like to screen print on. Mine was Elmo. Then place it on top of contact paper and cut out each individual color. Keep the printed part with the contact paper part. So you know what is what. Take the outside of the contact paper design and adhere it to the fabric. Then carefully layer on the pieces until you are leaving one color spot left. Like this. The eyes and the nose. They aren't touching so I am doing two colors at once to save time. Paint. I used acrylic paint that I added fabric paint medium to. You can purchase them both at Michael's or Joanne's. Then paint the other color. Wait until it dries completely. Then remove the next color. In my case, red. Add the pieces you just painted back on over once the paint is dry. Paint the red and the black in the eyes. And last but not least. His nose. You will then take the fabric, I should have mentioned above. You will want to measure your window and decide how wide you want your piece. I didn't want mine to cover the whole width of the window so I made it 14 inches wide (Which ends up being 12 inches) and 21 inches long (Which ends up being 17 inches). Pin and iron both sides in 1/2 inch. Then fold over again and iron and pin. Sew down as close to the edge as possible. Then fold the bottom up 1/2 inch and iron then fold up 2 inches and iron and pin. Sew as close to the top edge as possible and then sew 1/2 inch down to create a double stitch. Slide in your dowel. Mine is 13 inches. Then fold the top down 1/2 inch and iron. Then fold down 1 1/2 inches and iron and pin. Double sew just like you did on the bottom. Cut two strips of fabric. 2 inches by 7 inches. Fold in half and sew along the raw edge with right sides together. Turn right sides out. Place a magnet in the bottom of each strip. I used the extra hold magnets. They are silver and come by the jewelry in most craft stores. Fold the raw edge in just a tad and sew it closed. Then push the magnet down and sew just above the magnet. Don't sew through the magnet. Your machine will NOT be happy with you! Then on the other end sew a line 2 inches up from the edge. Put your magnet in there and tuck the edge under 1/2 inch. Then sew it closed along the edge. Cut 2 strips of vinyl that are 6 inches by 2 inches. Sew the vinyl and the magnet strips on 1 inch from either outside edge on the top. Sew One line on the top double stitched line already there. Then sew on the second double stitch line, through the vinyl only. Hold the magnet up as you sew this. Here is the back view. So you can life the magnet like this. Do this to both sides. Roll up the back window with the vinyl sticking out the top. This holds the shade in place. Here is the outside view. And the inside. I have tucked the straps back just for the photo. And here you have it all rolled up. And a side view. And from the outside. And to roll it up, simply roll from the bottom dowel upward and tuck the strap under the roll and it will click to the other magnet. I am holding the camera in one hand and rolling with the other. Even my 4 year old son can do it while we are driving. Make sure you use the silver craft magnets. They are extra strong. They come in a pack of 4 for around $3.00! It's worth the money, I guarantee it!
Check back soon for tutorial number two. I am just finishing it up...and then tutorial number three!
