Messy Zipper Flower Headband

Yeah, It's ANOTHER zipper flower. This time it's messy! This one is so incredibly easy to make because really, you can't mess it up. The point is to make it look messy and not symmetrical! Grab yourself a 20 inch coat zipper. Meaning a zipper where the teeth are gold or silver. Unzip it to separate the sides. Then you will start at the top of the zipper and tuck the extra end towards you.
Grab your needle and thread. Wrap the zipper around this tucked in end and stitch in place.
Then turn the zipper back the same direction you came. Whoa, I know. This is what gives it the messy look. Stitch in place.
You can continue stitching in that direction for a while.
And then you can randomly change directions. When you change directions you can tuck the zipper underneath itself or over itself to make the pleating and change of directions different each time. Continue until you have completely used one side of the zipper.
Get the other side, this side will have the zipper pull. To remove the zipper pull simply make a tiny snip in between the first teeth of the zipper.
Right here...
And then unzip the pull and it will come right off. Then put a little flame where you snipped to keep the edge from fraying.
You can get rid of the zipper pull, or you can stash it for another project like I do. Start sewing with the other side right where you left off.
The back will be extremely messy. And that's okay. Make lots of stitches to secure your flower.
Keep switching directions to add to the random messyness of your flower.
Once you are done sew the end securely underneath. Then cut a piece of felt that will fit the bottom and sew it into place.
Turn it over and admire your beauty.
Wait, you need to turn it back over and sew on a piece of the soft side of a velcro strip.
Now you can turn it over and really enjoy it!
Simply attach it to your headband and you are good to go!
This one looks great tucked up by a sophisticated bun or updo!
How fun would it be to wear one of these on your wedding day!

I really like this. Too bad I have no hair to wear it in, but I think it would look really cute as a pin on a vest, or something - huh?
