The Best Ever SuperMan Costume

Remember this Batman Costume? Well, it was so awesome that I thought, hey, we might as well make a Superman one, right? Right.
Alright. I traced the same pieces I used to make this batman one. However, you will need to head on over to the batman one to see how I made the pieces in the first place. For Superman you will need two of these in blue. One for the front, and one for the back.
You will need four of the pants piece. However, make it an inch shorter than the batman ones.
Then you will need four of the sleeve pieces in blue. The entire sleeve is blue, so if you are using the batman patterns, lay the sleeve pieces together to make it full length.
Then the underwear. It needs to be red. You need four pieces.
And the bottom of the pant leg is red. You will need four. This time cut the sides two inches taller and then curve down in the middle one inch to make a curved v-shape at the top.
You will need one red cape. The bottom will not be curved it will be straight.
Then you will need to cut out the superman symbol. The back is solid and yellow. The front is red and looks like this.
Then for the belt piece. It is half the height of the batman one. So it is only 2 inches high.

Now let's start sewing. Take the bottom of the pant leg and lay it slightly over the top of the pant leg. Sew them together 1/4 inch away from the edge of the red. Repeat with all four of the leg pieces.
Then sew the crotch seam together. You will have two of these.
Then open them out and lay them right sides together. Sew down the sides of the pants and the inside of the pants.
Then fold over the top edge 1 1/2 inch. Sew it with a 1 1/4 inch seam allowance. Leave a small opening.
Put your elastic in and then zig zag it shut.
Sew the casing shut, and crap. Realize you didn't sew the underwear part one. Crap. Awkwardly sew it on because you don't want to have to massively unpick.
Or you after you sew the bottom of the pant leg to the top you can sew the underwear on each piece before you sew them together. Now, that is genius. And a lot easier.

Now for the shirt. Take the yellow belt and sew it to the bottom of the shirt piece. Do this with both sides.
Then sew the Superman logo to the front of the shirt. Then you will finish the shirt the same way I did here in the batman tutorial. Sew the shoulders together. Then add the sleeves. Then Sew the sides together. Then add velcro to the cape. And you have yourself...

A super Comfy, super Cute Superman costume and pajama's!

Let me know if you give it a try! Or you of course can purchase one of mine here in my shop. Please note: I make mine a little long, because I like the bunched look at the bottom, especially over shoes.
