{Whatever I Want Wednesday}... The What? Flower...

Okay. This post has been rather ridiculous. It isn't even anything fantastic. And I hit publish. And had the wrong date set. SO it published instead of scheduling to publish. So I hurred and corrected it to publish on the right day. Which would be today. And I put in the month of April instead. So now that you probably have all seen this in your goole readers a million times. It's here now. For reals... Yep... I call these types of things my mommy moments... Please don't tell me I'm the only one...

The What? Flower. Because after you read through this tutorial you're going to be thinking What? Did She really just post that. But here is why I am posting it. The Leaves. They are so much fun!!! You see rosette flowers all over the place, I get that... But have you seen one with such darling leaves? I don't think so...

Let's begin shall we. Take a strip of fabric twist it all up and then roll it up like a cinnamon roll. For this style I didn't hot glue and I didn't hand sew. I messy sewed. All over that rosette. Just back and forth and such.
Then I cut out four leaf shapes. And sewed two of them together right sides.
And then I turned them inside out.
And then I sewed it onto the rosette.
And then I did another one. And sewed it on as well. And then I sewed lines up the leaves.
And then I hot glued a clip on the back. And it's as easy as that. But those leaves are just the best. Aren't they?

{Tutorial Tuesday}...An Antique Key Necklace

Now let's begin with a tutorial on how to make your own antique key necklace shall we. First take a plain chain and hook it to a clasp so it is to your desired length.
Then add a circle ring to the side on one of the chain loops. Then put another one on the other side, in the same spot.
Then hook another chain to these loops. Make this chain shorter than the first one.
Then add another chain to the loop. Make this one longer than the first two. Then attach a tiled pendant to the shortest chain in the center.
Then I attached a vessel to one side of the tile pendant on the shortest chain.
Then I put a picture in the tile pendant. Here is how. (Pretend it's on the chain.) Lay out the tile pendant so it's flat.
Then put a little mod podge in the bottom of the pendant.
Here is what I used. And I LOVE. It's Mod Podge Dimensional Magic.
Then stick in your photo. I cut a bunch out from magazines.
Push it down with a pen that is not pushed out. Make sure you get the corners all down.
Then fill it with the mod podge.
If there are any bubbles pop them with a pin.
Leave it to dry overnight.
As it dries it turns clear.
Clearer and clearer.
Once it dries it will be completely clear.
Then get a 1/4 inch ribbon. Thread it with a needle.
Then string on thirteen pearls.
Tie a knot about 2 inches from the end.
Then slide a pearl to the knot.
Then tie a knot on the other side of the pearl.
Slide another pearl up. Tie another knot. Slide another pearl up. Tie another knot.
Then skip a space for a pearl but don't put a pearl and tie another knot.
Then slide up a pearl. And tie a knot.
Then skip a space and tie another knot.
Then repeat with a string of four pearls in a row.
Skip a spot and tie a knot.
Then do a string of three pearls. Then skip a spot. Tie a knot and repeat with a string of two pearls.
Cut off the ribbon about 5 inches.
Tie the 2 inch end of the ribbon to the circle loop on the necklace. Then on the other side tie the long end of the ribbon, Then tie a antique key to it. And then tie the remainder of the ribbon into a bow.
And there it is. A wonderfully fabulous antique key necklace.
I pretty much love it. I have been wearing it all the time! What do you think?

Let me know if you give it a try! Or if you'd like, I've got some in my shop, and I'll have some at the craft fair at the end of the month. I'll announce where soon!!!

{Monday Madness}...I'm not really here. And... this isn't really our entire week...

I fooled you didn't I? That's the magic of scheduling your posts... When this posts I'll actually be with my husband. Imagine that. Heavenly I'm sure. Plus, we will be where it's warm. That is if he passes his huge test scheduled last Friday. If he failed it, then it might be miserable... Let's hope he passed:). Alright, enough rambling...

Last Friday I forgot to include that the elementary school held their annual carnival and silent auction. The boys loved every minute of it. And my wallet was emptied... I hate when that happens. Good thing I never have alot of cash... Rylek wanted to get his face painted like a zebra... but ended up with a white and black tiger instead. It looks more like a butterfly and a cat mated if you ask me... But heck, I didn't offer to face paint so I guess I can't complain...
Then Ledger. Oh little Ledger. Got himself a little yellow smiley face. Are you surprised? You shouldn't be. It's yellow.
And then he got himself a snake. It's yellow too.
And this is the only other picture I ended up with of the event. Sometimes I am lame, I know... But here he is throwing YELLOW balls into the toilet. Yep, it was his favorite game. Even though he couldn't get one in. Because the balls were yellow, and the girls thought he was so cute he got a prize anyways...every time he played.
Brizden got his glasses. And after his awesome baseball coach gave him a HUGE accomplishment. They are a success. And he is actually wearing them everywhere he goes. I think he looks so darn cute! I really do.
They make him look so much older. SO MUCH OLDER. I can't believe it. I really can't.
It just blows my mind. I wish I could hit pause. Or rewind. But I can't. So I will enjoy now.
And then on Tuesday we had the first game in the tournament. And the boys did so great.

I mean really. They did. And they won!!! It was fabulous. So they get to play again later this week. Here they are all gathered together pregame. There couch is just the greatest! I am so thankful I have been and was able to be team mom. I've had a blast my first season of baseball and can't wait for many more of them!
Then Wednesday came. And I donated blood. Why? Because it's something I can do to help. Do I LOVE it? NO, I HATE it. And every time I seem to get the newbie that can never get my HUGE veins... Once again, without fail. It hurt like a mother... After he poked me and probed around for 2 minutes he finally got it and said. Uh, sorry about that. Really? Yeah, I didn't respond. But it's done. And I've done my good deed for the day!
Then when I got back my son and my nephew were out playing on the deck. They were 'cooking' with the barbecue. (Don't worry it's gas and we unconnected it to the gas line and the lighter is broken so you have to hand light it.) I had checked on them about 5 minutes earlier and we had left the door open to the inside where we were sitting. My mom walked out to check on them next and came back and said, "Look at this. M and L were playing with this, and when I told them that that wasn't a good idea M said, well Grandma it's just a knife!" It's a good thing it was just a knife... Because it's big enough to be a sword. Serious damage could have been done with this guy and two three year old boys.  Not a good idea. At all.
Wednesday Brizden came home from school. Refusing to wear his glasses. Because he put them on and two of his friends laughed at him at school. (kids...it's too bad...) It's a bummer. I don't know what to do. I think he looks great. But I am his mom. And I'm not 8. So I was one of 'those' mom's and I called the school and left a message for the teacher. It was simple. And went something like this. "I just wanted to let you know that Brizden recently got a new pair of glasses. I finally convinced him to wear them to school today and when he got there two of the classmates laughed at him. I don't want the classmates to get in trouble, so I am not going to tell you who it is. But if there is any way could you please encourage Brizden to wear his glasses, he really needs them. And it would be great if you could somehow make the class aware that just because you have glasses it doesn't mean you are a dork." I know, I probably shouldn't have called. But it breaks my heart. Especially because they were his own friends. (Which by the way is the second time this week that something like this has happened.) However his baseball coach was INCREDIBLE! And when Brizden walked up with his new glasses he ooed and awed and in front of the entire team made him feel like a million dollars!!! I couldn't be more thankful for him!!!

Then Thursday Morning we visited the dentist for our 6 month check up. That is the boys, unfortunately I don't have dental insurance and that's something we can't afford right now for my husband or I. And my little child was cavity free. Thank heavens. His mouth was a nightmare last time we went.
As for this little guy. One. Clear in the back... an inbetweener from not flossing. Ack. Guilty. I barely get the kid pinned down to brush his teeth.
And this little turd. Two of them. Both flossers as well... Guess I better do a better job at flossing FOR them.
While we were waiting for the older two boys Ledger put on his shades and begged for me to take a picture. He's so funny!
And he looked so cute in the huge chair. Just laying back watching tv waiting for the dentist.
So Rylek decided to join in and just stood and watched. It looked extremely painful. Just look at his neck.
Then Thursday Morning it was the elementary school's fun run! I got to watch my oldest, but we had a little niece decide she wanted to try and come five weeks early... So I was a little preoccupied and didn't get to see Rylek's. Dang it. He said it was okay. I asked him as I dropped him off at school. So here is the second graders running...
You picked out my son, right? Okay, here is a little help!
And then he walked. Silly boy. Just like his mom.
But randomly bolted to the finish line... So all I got was his rear crossing in.
And the reward, a Popsicle. Maybe I should keep Popsicles around to convince him to do things. If it were only that easy. He did great though!
And the entire time his brothers were racing the little guy held his mouth like this. He looked like he was going to puke. He HATED the fluoride on his teeth. He never threw up though (I used to EVERY time). But he looked very odd. I had alot of stares. But I could NOT get him to stop holding his mouth.

Brizden came home from school Thursday saying that his teacher talked to the class about how in third grade there is alot of big changes. That people get glasses, they get braces, they might have big permanent teeth, ect and that they need to be nice to everybody no matter what because they can't help it and that those people need those things to help them become the best person they can! LOVE HER! And Brizden came home in his GLASSES!!! He said that he put them on and got to stand up and show everyone and they were all really nice and no one said anything mean!!! I hope it stays that way!!! (And unfortunately I was one of those mean kids... I so regret it now...)

And Thursday afternoon led to another baseball game. This one being the second game in the tournament.

And that's is just about when I took off... So I will fill you in on the baseball game and my fun filled, get to be with my husband, weekend next Monday with my regular weekly posting... You know, It will just be more like a week and a weekend post! Sure hope you don't mind!
