Hmmm...

I've thought of many titles for this post...

Reason Number 951 why I don't Home School my kids...
See how talented I really am?
What happens when 4+5 doesn't equal 9
I could not be on are you smarter than a 5th grader, because I'm not.

You get the jift... I obviously am not intelligent enough to figure out how to make 16 rows add up to the same length. I spent forever graphing this out. I have no idea how it happened. But it did. And so... I give you... the last minute quilt that my son asked for for his Birthday... (don't worry, his birthday was last week... it's still not done...almost, but not done...)
See the problem... hmmm...
Yeah.. That's what it should look like...
Don't worry, I still can't figure out what I did. And what is silly is when I measure the rows. They are even. It makes no sense at all. It makes me feel well real dumb. But don't you worry. I grabbed my unpicker and picked away. Then I cut and resewed and the top is now complete. Now if I can squeeze in the time between my naps, feeling not the best, taking care of my boys, not cleaning my house, and the competition, I'll get it finished!

And speaking of the competition. Have you had the chance to go over and vote? I'm barely hanging on this week. Ack... So if you haven't I would love if you would:) I'm number 4 in the right side bar, if that helps at all... lol!

Yep, and that's why I not only never home-schooled my kids, but don't make quilts! Can't believe you unpicked it!! Just curious - why did B request a quilt for his b'day? Still a wonderful gift for him from his Mom.

So glad I am not alone. I am also pregant and I am attempting my first quilt. Lets just say the other day after 6 trys of cutting out a 6 1/4 square and getting a 5 3/4 square I walked away and felt very "smart". Good luck, I do like the design:)

You need to ease in your rows. sometimes the seam allowances don't always stay the same especially if this is your first quilt. The trick to quilting is exactness. I would pin the end and the middle and if one side seams to big put it face down toward the feed dogs and ease it in.
Also if you were wonky on your pressing it will stretch it just enough to drive you crazy.
I hope I helped.

Thank you all so much for your support and suggestions! The only quilt I've ever made was a super easy square one. You know... all the same... no issues at all. So this has been a doozy!!! LOL... However my other two boys now want a quilt too... So I better figure it out soon!

That's when I would just cut that side off and sew a white strip all the way down the length of the quilt. Wrong? Absolutely! haha... good luck!!!

Deidre-
That's pretty much what I did! LOL! I love it! Great minds think alike! When I post it finished I'll post some pictures of how I took it apart!
